Originally licensed by Apple when it migrated from the PowerPC CPU platform that it had used from the mid-1990's until the Intel CPU platform in 2006, Rosetta allowed Mac users to continue to use their library of PPC software transparently in emulation. Unfortunately you got caught up in the minor miracle of Rosetta. Here is a post that I assembled for a similar question: And any version from the last few years is sure to be compatible. And all but the last option are uncharactaristic of Apple.īy the way may I ask what it is you need Rosetta for? All software made after 2006 *should* (at least if it had decent developers) be Intel-native.

IMessage doesn't have an API that developers can use, so either they make an API, they open the platform so it talks to other services, they make the apps themselves, or it's restricted to the newest Mac/iOS software. Apple can be a mix of greedy (want more upgrades) and lazy (they don't tend to develop for outdated versions of their software), but IMO they're being stupid. They had a beta for 10.7 but they're discontinuing even that. I haven't heard that Apple is developing a separate client, though.
IMESSAGE CLIENT FOR MAC UPGRADE
Not everybody has the ability to upgrade to 10.8, so why should Apple prevent them from being able to text people with iPhones or iPods or 10.8? At times I have found this fact to be very inconvenient.
